Story, heat and visuals are our editorial scores (visuals judged on Episode 1 frames). Value is calculated from Candy's token prices for this series.
Verdict: A homey, daylight setup where a stepmother's written rules drive the story. Two episodes cost nothing and the finish is a flat 36 tokens, so you can test the hook before paying.
House Rules Candy Shorts is a five-episode series with a one-line hook that Candy's synopsis states plainly. When her husband's son comes home from college, a restless stepmother writes "house rules" to take what she wants while his girlfriend is under the same roof. That is Candy's own description, and it is all we will say about the plot.
"Step" here means family by marriage, and all characters are adults. The series is tagged taboo, and it stars Veronica Parker, a Candy AI character. You can read more about her on her character page.
What makes the premise work is the device. Rules are normally how a house stays orderly, and here they are written by the person who plans to bend them. Add a girlfriend under the same roof and the risk is built in from the start. Candy doesn't say what the rules say or who breaks them first, and we won't guess.
Partly. Episode 1 plays on Candy with no sign-up, so you can see the opening right away. Episode 2 is free too, but it needs a free account.
If you came for House Rules free episodes, those two are the honest answer, and they only live on Candy. Our guide to how to watch Candy Shorts walks through the steps, and what is free on Candy covers the rest of the catalog. After Episode 2, the rest is paid in tokens.
House Rules Episode 3 costs 12 tokens, and Episodes 4 and 5 cost 12 tokens each, so finishing takes 36 tokens in total. The per-episode list is in the episode list above, and our price guide shows how Candy sells tokens and plans.
Is it worth it? We think so if the premise grabs you. By the end of Episode 2 you know whether the tone and the tension work for you, and the price is flat at 12 tokens per episode with a hard stop at five episodes. Candy doesn't publish runtimes or episode plots, so we can't tell you what the rules turn into. Subtitles are available in 7 languages.
A simple way to use that: watch Episodes 1 and 2 in one sitting, then decide. If the rules device has hooked you, you can budget the 36 tokens before you start instead of paying episode by episode and wondering how far it goes. If it hasn't, you have spent nothing.
Episode 1 looks like a home video shot in a real family living room. The opening frames show butter-yellow walls, cream carpet, a wooden TV stand, a leafy plant and framed photos on a shelf, with a blue workout mat laid out on the floor. The daylight is soft and even, the colors are pastel and the whole room looks lived in.
The camera is handheld and close, in the style of a phone clip, and one frame pushes into an extreme close-up with a glossy, shallow-focus grade. Across the three frames the setting and light stay consistent. It is polished without being lavish, and it fits a story set inside one house.
This is for viewers who like tension at home rather than on location. Nothing depends on travel or costumes; the stakes are a family home, a set of rules and a girlfriend who could walk in.
Who should skip it? If you want big sets or a period setting, one family home may feel small. Candy hasn't flagged it as Spicy, so our heat score reflects the charged setup, not anything explicit.
It is legit. House Rules is a Candy Shorts series on candy.ai, which is run by EverAI Limited, and charges there show up as EverAI.
Searching for full episodes or leaked copies elsewhere will not get you the series. Re-uploads outside Candy are partial, fake or built to scam you, and a page that claims all five episodes without Candy isn't telling the truth. The free legal route is Episode 1 with no sign-up, then Episode 2 with a free account, then 12 tokens each if you want the ending.
Veronica Parker also headlines Staycation With My Fiancee's Mother, a lakeside affair with a near-miss. For another stepmom story, try Dad Left My Step-Mom, about a weekend after a husband walks out, or My Stepmom Sophie Dee Caught Me Changing. One-Night Stand Is My Friend's Stepmom has a house rule of its own: don't let him hear.
